課文:

Sasha:Telling my parents a different name doesn’t seem like a white lie to me. That just sounds like a lie.

Jack:Well, maybe Linda could accompany us. Then we wouldn’t be lying. It’s just a little adjustment of the truth.

Sasha:That still sounds pretty dishonest. If my parents found out that I betrayed their trust, I don’t know what I would do.

Jack:How would they find out? Besides, it’s not a big deal. It’s just one movie.

Sasha:But it would be a big deal to my parents. They’ve always taught me that honesty is the best policy.

Jack:But people lie all the time about all sorts of things. It’s practically part of being human.

Sasha:Perhaps, but I don’t think I want to lie to my parents. They would be really hurt and wouldn’t trust me anymore. And I probably wouldn’t be allowed to date until I’m 30.

Jack:That sounds like a slight exaggeration! And I‘m sure your parents would still trust you. You’re a very responsible person.

Sasha:And that’s exactly why I can’t go. Sorry, Jack. Maybe we can study in the library together instead.
