課文:

Carol met Mr. Davidson every day after school and practiced at home to drum the notes into her head.

The night of the concert, Carol felt so nervous she was shaking.

“Don’t forget to sing in tune,” teased Bella, and a few girls snickered.

The show opened with a few pieces for the entire choir. Then Bella performed her solo with the choir, which sounded wonderful.

Carol stepped up to the microphone to take her turn. Looking straight at Mr. Davidson, she imagined that she was back in the practice room. Right on cue, she started singing.

The notes rang out so clearly that it surprised even Carol. She ended with a run she had been practicing. That last flourish struck the right note, and the audience gave her a standing ovation.
