課文:

All week Bella tried to convince Carol to trade solos with her. She asked again and again, sounding like a broken record. She loudly criticized Carol’s singing. Carol tried to tune her out, but Bella’s mean comments bothered her.

Bella drummed up lots of support from the other girls in choir. Bella was popular and outgoing, so they took their cues from her. They accused Carol of being selfish.

Carol said, “But Bella’s right. It’s a really demanding solo, and although I can carry a tune, I’m not a great singer. I really don’t think I can do it.”
